It was a normal Thursday morning at The Mydlo house. My High- Schoolers were already out the door, Tommy was showering in one bathroom to get out the door to work. Jake was stirring in his room, preparing for his morning college classes and Eli was in the shower….preaching himself happy.
I was rounding up socks and shoes for Eli and I couldn’t help but overhear him through the bathroom door. So, I stopped what I was doing and listened. I could hear him saying this; “No, devil, you are trying to ruin my joy today. I am excited to go to school. I like school. It’s my day to go see Mrs. Stewart (his reading tutor). I love going to Mrs. Stewart’s class. Who would have thought learning could be fun too?” …..then quiet came….then he started again. “I love lunch and P.E.!” Before I knew it, he was in there singing in the shower.
I have to tell you, I was tearing up. I thought to myself; “you got it baby…put that devil back in his place and live free and joyfully.”
It made me realize something all over again, even though I have seen it a million times. The Holy Spirit showed me again that the best sermons are those lived out right in front of people. Eli learned how to take hold of the peace that Jesus wants him to have, by watching me do it daily. Thank you Lord for every time I have struggled in front of my kids. Now, they don’t have to.
I love Jesus!
